{"id":673,"date":"2017-07-29T20:06:37","date_gmt":"2017-07-29T20:06:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/powertasting.com\/?p=673"},"modified":"2017-07-29T20:09:03","modified_gmt":"2017-07-29T20:09:03","slug":"reynier-wine-library","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/powertasting.com\/?p=673","title":{"rendered":"Reynier Wine Library"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This is one in a continuing series, irregular though it may be, about favorite wine bars where you can do wine tasting.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t meant to be a series, but since we\u2019ve already introduced our readers to the <a href=\"http:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=215&amp;action=edit\">Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=388&amp;action=edit\">L\u2019Ecluse<\/a> in Paris, then three such articles seals the deal.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So let us introduce you to Reynier in the City of London, that is the sector of London known as The City, where all the financiers are.\u00a0 Actually, many of them have moved on to Canary Wharf\u2026Oh, forget about it.\u00a0 This is the old, historic part of London, where London Bridge is, where the streets are tiny and curvy and have names like Threadneedle and Poultry and Pudding to memorialize the trades that were once practiced there.\u00a0 And there are still many bankers and brokers and insurance chaps and they like to drink with their lunch.\u00a0 Which brings us to Reynier.<\/p>\n<p>Now what\u2019s funny is that the name of the place is actually the Wine Library (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.winelibrary.co.uk\">www.winelibrary.co.uk<\/a>), which isn\u2019t such a bad name, but I\u2019ve only ever known it as Reynier (pronounced RAIN-yay) and no one I know who goes there calls it anything else.\u00a0 But other than the mystery of the name and the little streets, why should you go there?\u00a0 Well, \u201cWine Library\u201d should give you a clue.\u00a0 It\u2019s a fine wine shop with a\u00a0 great selection, running heavily to Bordeaux and Burgundy.\u00a0 \u201cWait\u201d you must be thinking, \u201cthis was supposed to be about a wine <em>bar<\/em>, not a <em>wine shop<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 And so it is, but with a difference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/reynier1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-674 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/reynier1-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"371\" height=\"246\" srcset=\"http:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/reynier1-300x199.jpg 300w, http:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/reynier1.jpg 550w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 371px) 100vw, 371px\" \/><\/a><em>Reynier wine Library.\u00a0 Photo courtesy of Yap.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As you can see from the photo, there are a lot of wine bottles and we can assure you that they are all for sale.\u00a0 And you can see that there are tables.\u00a0 That\u2019s because you can buy a bottle, pay a small corkage fee and drink the contents on the premises.\u00a0 Of course we can hear you objecting that you\u2019d never sit down and drink a bottle by yourself.\u00a0 Indeed not!
