(Proto courtesy of Provenceweb.fr)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Wine regions around the world all have one thing in common: vineyards, of course.\u00a0 As you travel in the Wine Country in France, some have more to offer, such as historical villages, unique churches, Roman bridges, mountain views, gourmet food, farmers\u2019 markets, pottery, art, fields of flowers, orchardsand agriculture.\u00a0\u00a0 A sector of the southeastern part of France, called the Dr\u00f4me Proven\u00e7ale, has all of these\u00a0 things and more; this is where we will take you in this article.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/drome2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-890 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/drome2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"511\" height=\"340\" \/><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Market day in Nyons, France.\u00a0 Photo courtesy of francerevisited.com<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This part of France is best known for its Rh\u00f4ne wines, lavender fields, but also for its apricot orchards and the famous olives grown in the small village of Nyons, where you can stop at the Cooperative for a taste of their olives and the local wines.\u00a0 You can drive through beautiful little villages like Sainte C\u00e9cile-les-Vignes (where we had a memorable lunch at the small hotel <em>La Farigoule)<\/em>, Cairanne, Rasteau, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Beaume-de-Venise, Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape (all C\u00f4te-du-Rh\u00f4ne villages). \u00a0\u00a0Then there are Orange and its Roman arena and Suze-la-Rousse with its castle, home of the Universit\u00e9 du Vin (Wine University).\u00a0 Here there are laboratories and tasting rooms that are unique in Europe, offering courses in oenology and management for the wine industry.\u00a0 All those villages are surrounded by vineyards overlooked by mountains: the Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/drome3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-891 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/drome3-300x135.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"607\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/drome3-300x135.jpg 300w, https:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/drome3-768x347.jpg 768w, https:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/drome3-1024x462.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/drome3.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 607px) 100vw, 607px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The Universit\u00e9 du Vin.\u00a0 <\/em><em>Photo courtesy of Les Ch\u00e2teaux de la Dr\u00f4me.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The village of Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape is the best known Rh\u00f4ne village, thanks to its famous and unique wines.\u00a0 The village itself is certainly worth visiting.\u00a0\u00a0 You can park in the village, have a delicious lunch at an outdoor caf\u00e9 and walk to some of the wineries in the village. Other vineyards are just a short drive from the town, where you will find <em>Domaine Beaurenard, <\/em>\u00a0<em>Domaine du Vieux T\u00e9l\u00e9graphe, Ch\u00e2teau Beaucastel <\/em>to name just a few of the most famous.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/drome4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-892 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/powertasting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/drome4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"544\" height=\"294\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Ch\u00e2teauneuf-du-Pape, France.\u00a0 Photo courtesy of Wikipedia.com<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This is a favorite part of France for Lucie, since she has old friends in Nyons.
